Clinic & Presentation Details

Each clinic is 90 minutes

Clinics – “Ranch Riding” is an event under the umbrella of “Ranch Versitility”. The Versatility Ranch Horse competition promotes the athletic ability and versatility of the horse and is demonstrated in seven classes – ranch riding, ranch trail, ranch cutting, ranch reining, ranch cow work, ranch on the rail and ranch conformation. There are divisions for open, amateur and youth in specific organizations or clubs.
At this clinic I will be warming up the horses to prepare for the Ranch Riding and Ranch Trail classes set out. Riders and spectators will gain knowledge on the appropriate warmup, obstacle work and mental preparation to perform a pattern suited to the Ranch Versitility classes. A description of Judges expectations and scoring will be included in the presentation.
Descriptions of the two events being covered:
Ranch Riding – Horses show individually, and the class can be conducted inside or outside an arena. Judges are looking for relaxed, responsive horses with soft and cadenced gaits. The horse should make timely transitions in a smooth and correct manner, plus the horse should be soft in the bridle and yield to contact.
Ranch Trail – Obstacles found in a ranch trail pattern are approximate to those found during the course of everyday work. Judges are looking for a well-trained, responsive and well-mannered horse that can correctly navigate and negotiate the course, and do so in a correct and efficient manner.
