Horse Expo Canada and Rocking Heart Ranch are excited to share that the inaugural Young Guns Colt Starting Challenge took place September 26–28, 2025 at Rocking Heart Ranch, featuring five up-and-coming trainers. After three days of sessions, Braden Bernier captured the win and will compete as one of our three trainers in the 2026 Horse Expo Trainer’s Challenge.
The next Young Guns competition returns in September 2026. Applications open November 1, 2025. If you’re a new or young trainer looking to make your mark, don’t miss your chance to apply. Applicants must have an online presence (and be willing to grow it) and be prepared to work with a long two-year-old from Rocking Heart Ranch over a three-day period across multiple sessions.
Tickets will be sold for the 2026 event, with more details coming in early 2026 on how you can be part of the action.
